French Silver 2 Cut Glass Bottle Oil & Vinegar Cruet Stand Martial Gauthier For Boudet Paris Ca 1880
A fabulous French 950/1000 sterling silver (NOT silver plated) two-bottle oil-and-vinegar cruet stand with cut glass bottles and stoppers by Martial Gauthier for Boudet, Paris, Ca 1880.
Two magnificent bottles engraved with delicate floral and foliage ornaments in detachable bases pierced with acanthus leaves and grape clusters.
Two sculptured stoppers with vine and grape clusters connected to the base with silver chains.
Sculptured center carrying handle in garland design.
Applied with two sculptured carrying handles in a ribbon tied leaves design.
Set on two medallion shape supports with vacant cartouches and two additional stylized supports.
Each part is marked with French silver marks and maker's mark of Martial Gauthier ("M.G" in a diamond with a star flanked by Greek crosses) and bottom with French silver marks and retailer's mark – "Boudet 43 BD.DES CAPUCINES Paris".
A very good condition, one bottle is cracked as seen in the picture.
